Glenbrook Skilled Nursing Earns Five-Star Rating from Federal AgencyCARLSBAD, CALIF. GlenBrook Skilled Nursing, the skilled nursing facility adjacent to La Costa Glen in Carlsbad, Calif., has received a five-star quality rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
According to Ryan Exline, administrator for GlenBrook Skilled Nursing and GlenView Assisted Living, GlenBrook received an overall five-star rating from the federal agency based on three critical areas: health inspection results, quality measures and staffing. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, based in Baltimore, Md., recently released the results from its new "Zagat-style" rating system which measures the quality of care at nursing homes. More than 16,000 nursing homes were reviewed nationwide. The scores reflect inspection records, complaint investigations and quality measures, including how many nursing staff hours were provided each day to patients. GlenBrook was one of only 148 nursing facilities in California to receive the five-star rating out of 1,254 facilities rated statewide.
GlenBrook and GlenView, located adjacent to the La Costa Glen continuing care retirement community, offer skilled nursing and assisted living services as well as Alzheimer's care to the outside public as well as residents of La Costa Glen. Located at 1950 Calle Barcelona in Carlsbad, GlenBrook and GlenView opened in 2004.

With 70 beds, GlenBrook provides round-the-clock services including specialized nursing, care of IV therapy, wound care and pain management, and rehabilitative services. The staff includes registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants who work together with physical, speech and occupational therapists to provide a full spectrum of care for each resident.
