When a loved one is discharged from the hospital, families are often
unable to provide the demanding care that is required to help the loved
one fully recuperate. Patients recovering from a stroke, hip or knee
surgery, for example, can speed their recovery considerably when they
are in the short-term environment. They receive instruction and guidance
from rehabilitation professionals. Patients in the home setting are
less likely to participate as fully with therapy. They fare better in a
finely controlled environment.

Our therapists are not only the instructors but the patient's allies

Highly skilled Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapists
provide rehabilitation to patients at GlenBrook through our close
association with RehabCare. Our speech therapists also work to improve
swallowing and cognitive deficits, which could be vital to the recovery
of stroke victims. Using a team approach with nursing and therapists at
GlenBrook allows more continuity of care from all perspectives. Patients
reap higher returns of recovery. Our staff recognizes that therapy is
often the key to vital health. Pain is managed prior to therapy,as well
as after. Staff work within the patient's time schedule as well.
